Feeling the Pressure

This week marks the 32 week point for baby Funk. I'm definitely starting to feel the pressure...both on my bladder and in terms of getting ready at home! I went to the doctor this week and everything looks good, once again we have an active babe with a heart rate of 165! I was starting to think the baby had calmed down a little...not so much. So far, I'm measuring 1 week ahead, but not enough where they think I'm going to have an abnormally large child or anything crazy like that.

I am going to be frequenting the doctors office more from this point forward. I now start going every two weeks...which is good because I had a long list of questions last time and I couldn't bring myself to ask every single one when the doctor came in the room. The exciting news is that he said he would induce me up to a week early and he wouldn't let me go more than a week past my due date. SOOO...I told him, "Sign me up for inducing me at 39 weeks!" I know there are pros and cons to getting induced, but overall I need to escape my job. September 15th is a huge deadline for a lot of corporations, so as you can guess I'm swamped with work now through 9/15. No offense to any of my clients (well maybe some), but I can't handle the stress that they put on me (if you are a client reading this...of course I'm not talking about you!). Everyone is crabby, swamped and overwhelmed and if you add a pregnant lady to the mix...you get even more crabby clients. Personally, I'd rather deal with the crabby overwhelmed feelings while looking at my cute little baby!

As for preparing for the baby...I have confirmed the pediatrician (Dr. Emm), got a diaper bag (adorable Vera Bradley bag...ON SALE), finished touching up the paint in the babies room (5 coats later) and started looking into newborn pictures (nothing final here, but it's much more fun than filling out insurance forms)!

Hopefully by the next blog I will have accomplished some of my more important to do's...such as: accept the fact that I will need daycare and start looking into options, figure out the insurance crap, fill out the short-term disability papers, finalize my maternity leave plan and hopefully start arranging the nursery (if the Nursery Nook decides to get their act together and deliver the crib and glider...seriously I was planning to start sleeping in the glider a couple weeks ago...COME ON)! There, now I'm accountable...sort of...

Here are the photos...what do you think...girl or boy???

Literally, the BIG 30!

Well, the countdown is on...we are down to 10 weeks to put together the nursery, pick out a baby name and take baby classes to learn how to do the parenting thing! Yea, I'm ordinarily such a planner, but somehow I'm falling behind here. When I first found out I was pregnant I had this initiative to start crossing things off my list...but instead of preparing for the baby I do things like order replacement screens for the window, furniture shop...for the living room, take photography classes or obsess over making our lawn green. Nothing child related! Is that still considered nesting? I need the baby nesting phase to kick in...argh! Any suggestions?

In the mean time, my belly is a growing...FAST. I can't believe that I'm still going to grow for 10 more weeks. The most frequent comment I get these days is "Are you sure there is just one?!" Let me tell you something...not the most flattering thing you can say to a pg woman. I know I've said it before too so no offense if you were one of the ones that said it! Yes, there is only one...and in my case if there ever should be more than one, I've already promised the other one to my mother-in-law since twins would be her fault since they come from Ben's side of the family.

Here is my profile pic for 30 weeks

For those that are still guessing girl/boy here is a front view...I feel like my belly looks a little lopsided! I was dressed like a normal person today because I had to go to a client. I'm excited to say that I only have to go to a client one more time before the baby arrives...woohoo!

Slumber Party

This past weekend Ben and I went up to Lake Zurich to spend the 4th of July holiday with the Wiegmans! It was our first multi-family slumber party with my two best friends and their families...which was really interesting with all the babies in tow! Rachel and Matt threw a fabulous party and they even sacrificed their own bed and spare bedrooms for their guests. Since the weather was cold and rainy we couldn't go in the pool...so instead we hung out on their huge screened in patio and ate/drank all night long! BTW on a different note, I passed my 2nd Glucose tolerance test after dieting, fasting and four viles of my blood for testing. It was not a pretty test! The doctor said "it looks like your diet is working, so try to stick to it as much as possible". I say "as if"!

Since I couldn't have an ice cold beverage in hand, I brought my camera instead. I was super excited to test out one of my new camera lenses on all the babe's at the party. Check out these cutie pies!

Little Miss M (Rachel & Matt's 9.5 month old daughter) and her serious pose...she is usually smiley and loves to ham it up for cameras so I can't believe I caught this look. Such a doll!

This angel (Brittany & BJ's 6 month old daughter) is clearly going through the teething stage. All of Miss A's poses included fingers in the month! You can almost see her smile, but the eyes really give away her happiness!

These two babes alternated hands in the mouth...so this is as good as it gets :)

Now this is one model of a child. Little E (Brittany and BJ's 3 year old daughter) was adorable on the 4th. She loved all the decorations and crafts, but had to ask her daddy to tell the people setting off the fireworks to stop it!

This is one of the only pictures I captured with an "adult" in it...I'm not counting the series of pictures my husband took of Matt on the continuous shooting mode to pretend like they were models! Don't these butterfly kisses just make you melt??
